Conference Forms Coming Home Today

Conference scheduling forms were sent home with your child today. Please look for the salmon colored form in your child's binder, complete the bottom portion of the form and return it as soon as possible so we may plan for your child's upcoming conference.

Thank you to Grant's mom and dad for sending in our first pumpkin to carve. Please consider helping us by sending in more medium size pumpkins for the class to carve.

Thank you also to Harper H.'s family for sending in apples, apple cider donuts and a pumpkin for us to use in class. We will be tasting our apples and apple foods this week so please consider sending in materials so we have enough for everyone. I cannot wait to try the donuts myself!!!

Home Work Plan for Kindergarten

Dear Kindergarten Parents, Due to the school closures related to COVID-19, we are now moving to a digital learning plan in order to continue our learning. Each day your child should: Complete at least 10 minutes or a lesson on ReadingEggs or read on Raz-Kids and complete quizzes  Complete at least 10 minutes or a lesson on MathSeeds or Dreambox Read a story with your family ·        Write a sentence or more about your favorite part of the story in a journal or on a piece of paper. KIndergator Update 9.14

I am watching a 6 year old jump off a high diving board here at Georgia Tech as I type this. There is so much excitement and fear at the same time in her eyes as she gets ready to jump. It reminds me of how our kiddos look right before they sound out a big word in class. It is such fun to watch. Here are some things we worked on this week: Reading: We continued blending sounds together in guided reading groups. We began introducing the “letters that work together to make one sound” trick with blends like (sw, sn, st, sp). We also began our study of the parts of a story by discussing characters. Did you know anything can me a character if you write a story about it? We read about a blue dot as a character and a chameleon. We also reviewed th difference between real reading and fake fiction through our topic of chameleons this week. Math: We finished naming all the 2d shapes and describing them.
