Kindergator Update 3.22.19

Happy Spring! It has been happy, with no rain so far and lots of time outside to play. Things are blooming outside the school and our kindergarteners are starting to bloom in their learning. Here are some super smart things we discussed in class this week: Reading: We have been working on the 3Cs…..character traits, conflicts and connections. That means we are working through fiction frog stories noticing the positive and negative traits the characters portray. We are identifying the new types of conflicts we encounter and adding them to our ideas chart. And we are thinking about ways to connect our lives to the characters, setting, conflict or resolution of the story. We read a Frog and Toad story about grumpy Toad not wanting to wake up in the morning and lots of our students (and some teachers) could connect to that! PLEASE COME IN FOR PARENT PEDAGOGY WEEK!

Dear Kindergator Parents, We are excited to announce our Parental Pedagogy Week , coming the week of May 13-17. We would like to invite our parents to come in to class and teach something unique and personal to our students.   This can involve career related lessons, cultural tradition lessons, science projects, cooking lessons, art lessons or anything you think the students might enjoy. Hands-on lessons and projects are usually the most interesting, but sharing a special family story can be a wonderful experience too. This is a chance to promote the importance of education, have some fun, expand our curriculum, and show the students that everyone has something special to contribute! We welcome your ideas and can even help with some planning or materials if you need us. SPECIALS TIME CHANGE

Due to testing in the upper grades, our schedule will change beginning April 8th until the end of the year. Our specials time will move from 1:25-2:10 pm to 8:00-8:50 am. Please be sure to have your child on time to school each day so they do not miss their Art, Music or PE times.

Report Cards Today

Report cards came home with your child today. Please take time to look over the report, sign the outside of the envelope and send only the envelope back in to class. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let us know!
