Kindergator Update 9.20

Fall Break is here!!!!. We are making such great progress here in class, that I actually hate the idea of the week off in some ways. Still I will find a way to enjoy it, I’m sure. We will be at the beach with our German foreign exchange student! Here are some of the things we made great progress on this week: Reading: We are prepping for our unit on retelling by working through the vocabulary of character and setting and identifying both in the books we are reading in class. We learned that when you retell a story, you always start with the characters and setting in the first sentence. And, you never refer to your character as “he” or “she” until after you tell who or what they are. We took assessments on the difference between fiction and non-fiction (real reading) this week. We kept working on our sounding out skills while reading the book “Sam and the Sap” which we will finish hopefully next week.
