Happy sunny Saturday! We hope you get out to play all day before next week’s rains come to wash us away. Here is what we did when not dodging puddles and mud this week: Reading: We are continuing to develop our independent reading skills and making sure we reread to give ourselves a chance to think about the meaning of what the words tell us. We are working on vowels a lot. This upcoming week we will be working on the “bossy-r” trick. That is when you have a vowel in front of the letter “r” and the sound of the “r” overtakes the regular vowel sound. There are 3 bossy “r” sounds: ar is the pirate sound, or like what we row a boat with and er, ir, ur that all make the same sound. Math : This week in math we worked on extending our understanding of + and – in many ways. We worked on the two processes side-by-side with models, number sentences and word problems.
