What an exciting first week we have had! Lots of learning in classroom 102. It was so nice to see everyone again last night. Thank you for coming to listen. Reading: We discussed the 4 things all great readers do: 1. Look at the pictures for clues. 2. Try to sound out some words. 3. Learn their sight words. 4. Believe they can do it! And .....the students read their first book in class. I wish you could have seen the surprise on some of their faces when they realized that they had read a book. I hope they read The Big Cat to you at home. We learned about the difference between letters, words and sentences. Math: We talked about why we count (to tell how many) and when we count. We thought about the difference between letters and numbers and what it means to have zero or one of something.
