Mrs. Powers' Kindergators

Next week is the last week of homework.  We have decided to do something a bit different for the week. Instead of the traditional grid sheet, your child will be asked to conduct an interview or do home research about a topic related to accident prevention. We will use the information they gather to work on an in-class project designed to teach others how to prevent accidents. On Monday you child will bring home a project sheet with their topic and the questions they thought about to help them understand the topic best. Please answer at least one question each day so they will be prepared to do their class work the next day. They can answer in written or picture form in the space provided under each question. As always, if you have any questions or needs, please let us know. If you know your week is super busy and want to do more than one question each night, that is okay too. Addison Gator Gala May 9th at 6pm Kindergarten students will be starting the program with the  Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner.   Please have your child arrive in the gym by 5:50 pm wearing their Addison t-shirt.  Be sure to check in with your child's teacher when dropping off and picking up your child.

Progress Reports are coming home today! Please take a moment to read through, sign and return the bottom portion of the form so we know you have seen it.  As always, please feel free to email any questions or concerns you may have about the report.

We had a chance to meet our future kindergarteners today at our kindergarten camp. I cannot believe it has been a year since you guys and your little ones walked through on your first visit to Addison. They have grown so much! Reading: We worked on researching about spiders this week. We compared and contrasted fiction versus non-fiction books, then did the same for two non-fiction texts about spiders. We played games where each child had either a main idea paper or details paper and they had to work to find all the papers that fit together around the same main idea. These kids LOVE non-fiction by the way and some have learned to love spiders too! We also painted pattern papers to use for our Eric Carle author study unit.   Mrs. Walkup would like you to know that your children did the best pattern painting of any class we ever had!
