Virtual Kindergarten Day 3

Good Morning Everybody!
Welcome to day 3 of virtual kindergarten.
Holly says she is ready for the day!

Coach Golden posted a video of him reading a book about baseball that he hopes you will listen to at: Coach Golden Reads A Book

Some of the Specials teachers have links to things you must get to by going through CLEVER. Below are the directions for logging into it. Through CLEVER you can get to brainpop and pebblego (non-fiction read aloud options) faster so it might be a good idea to investigate it.

Mrs. Bahr (our lightbulb lab teacher) posted this grid for extension thinking if you are looking for some fun extensions.

Creative and Critical Thinking Ideas
Choose a room in your home and name as many items that begin with the letter “C”. Try this challenge with a family member to see WHO can come up with the most “C” items.

Would you rather be a famous artist or a famous athlete
Hmmm, explain your choice.
The good news is that you've just been chosen to travel to the moon for FREE. The bad news is …
What would happen if money grew on trees? List several ideas. Choose one idea and write at least a paragraph about it.

Look outside a window and give the viewpoint of a tree in your yard. Share the flowing:
·       Your favorite season
·       Animals you like and do not like
·       Creatures that live in your hair (leaves)
·       What can you see that humans can’t see?
How would life in our country be different if we had NOT purchased the Louisiana territory from France on April 30, 1803?
Many coupons expire at the end of the month. Design a coupon that you would like your teacher to give to you
The answer is:
Only on Tuesdays.
What is the question? How many questions can you think up?
Would you rather be a tree in the amazon rainforest or a cactus in the dessert
Share your thoughts!
Lions, Lambs and Leprechauns: What do they have in common?

Create 5 math word problems where the answers are all fractions, and all 5 answers are also equivalent fractions.

Take crayon or paint swatch outside. See how many items you can find that closely match that color.
Compare friendship to rainbows.
How many comparisons can you think of?
You have discovered a new island.
Give your island a name and provide 3 reasons why visitors would like to take a tour.

What would you fly during a windy day in March instead of a kite? Design the perfect contraption to catch the wind and take off.
What sights might Peter Cottontail pause to see along 'The Bunny Trail"?

The good news is you have just invented a time travel device. The bad news is …
Describe St. Patrick's day to an alien.
Draw a clock turned inside
out.

Would you rather be a consonant or a vowel?
Explain why.
AND

Numbers are like _____ because …

What does a colorful hexabird look like?

·       Draw a colorful picture
·       Explain why its name is fitting

I took time to figure out all the stats on reading eggs and math seeds yesterday. It looks like most of our kiddos are doing their daily lessons. Reading Eggs and Math Seeds adjust to your child’s placement tests so they are great individualized resources for them. Don’t forget there are more things to do on it than “lessons.” Try the driving tests or spelling links for some new challenges!

We loved having the kids wish happy birthday to Audrey yesterday and getting to see them and hear them. If your child has a birthday coming up, please remind us so we can make their day special too!

Lastly, we were reminded of a great idea to encourage your child to write fun stories. It is called “Group Author.” Have one person write a sentence to the story, then pass the pen and have someone else write the next, and so on. It makes for some interesting ideas!

We are here if you need any help or ideas or want to share your awesome work.
