Flag Project
Flag Project
Your
letters and sight word sheet lists a flag
project for the week of October 7th. We are pushing this
project back one week. It will be included as part of your child’s homework for
our conference week, the week of October 14th. Below is a
description of the project if you wish to get an early start!
A Flag for Addison Project
Due Friday, October 18th
During this quarter, kindergarten
students have been studying the American
Flag and the Georgia Flag. They have
learned that everything on the flag has a special meaning; the colors, the
stars, and even the number of stripes.
For this project, students will be
creating a flag for Addison Elementary.
Students must use at least 3 different types of materials to make the
flag. For example paper, foam, wood, metal, plastic, cardboard, cloth or any
others they wish as long as the flag fits on an 9 x 12 piece of construction
paper (one piece will be provided.)
Students will also be required to explain how the colors, symbols, and
materials chosen relate to Addison.
For Example: Your child might say:
- “The color green
stands for our Green Alligator mascot.”
- “The pencils stands for learning to write.”
- The flag must be made
of at least 3 different materials. Your child should be able to name the
materials.
- Your child must
explain at least 3 different symbols/ components shown on the flag.
- This work should be a
product of your child’s best effort.
We
hope this is a fun activity for your child and you. As always if you have any
questions or needs, please let us know how we can help!
