Kindergator Update 11.22.19
Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you have a great week off with
lots to be thankful for!
Reading: We continued our discussion on main idea and
details while learning about Thanksgiving and turkeys. We learned about how the
first Thanksgiving occurred, how it was different in the time of the Pilgrims
and Native Americans and how it was almost lost until a woman named Sarah Hale
convinced Abraham Lincoln to make it a national holiday. We hope your kiddos
share off all they learned at the dinner table this week. Please remember to
work on the Thanksgiving project that was sent home earlier in the week.
Math: We moved further into measurement working on
measuring weight. We discussed vocabulary like heavy, light, weight and scales.
We played with balance scales and even balanced bunnies.
Writing: We worked on exclamatory sentences and how
they must be yelled. We made some exclamatory sentences that showed excitement,
anger and fear! We played the “Punctuation Out of the Bag” game having to make
sentences from the mystery punctuation you pick.
STEM: We completed our Day and Night Sky mural and it
looks awesome! We made an i-motion video showing our creations, that I am
hoping to post this weekend, but can seem to get off the i-pad just yet.
Fingers crossed!
Vocabulary: exclamation mark, scale, weight, balance,
Pilgrim
Big Things:
We now have all our students counting to 100 in class!!!!!!
We had a class donut-hole celebration for this today at lunch.
Some of our kiddos are having trouble with the difference
between asking and telling sentences. If you have the opportunity to practice the
different types over the break we would gladly appreciate it.
Thank You To:

- Mae-Claire for bringing Marshmallow to school to play.
