Kindergator Update 11.15.19

Brrrr…..cold start to the week! We even had to do indoor recess a couple of days. Though our topic this week was hibernation, the kids were wide awake and showing off all they can do in class.

Reading: We continued our discussion on main idea and details through the topic of hibernation. We consulted multiple sources to find as many details as possible and figured out it takes more than one source to get all the important information. Fact they seemed to like the most???? Hibernating animals do not go potty while they hibernate.

Math: We reviewed classifying rules and then began diving into our measurement unit. We are starting with length and how we measure it!

Writing: We focused on writing a question correctly as we played the, “You Can Get What You Want Game.” If students wrote a question asking us for something with correctly capitalization and a question mark, they were eligible to get what they asked for from us. We gave out toy cars, hugs, lollipops. Mermaid dolls, legos, a toy phone and lots of other things as they got better and better at writing a great asking sentences. We also worked on the difference between an asking and a telling sentence.

Vocabulary: question mark, measurement, length, hibernation, burrow, main idea, source

Big Things:
If you have not returned your inclement weather form, please do so soon. We may have some troublesome weather this winter and need to know what your preference is should we have to dismiss early.

We have had lots of kids come in this week without coats. Please know that we go out to play whenever we are allowed to by county rules, even when it is pretty cold outside. We don’t want to guess whether or not your child forgot their coat that day or doesn’t want to wear one, so please send your child in with a coat every day. We will keep them inside if they are not dressed appropriately for the weather.
